Ann Curry

Ann Curry is a photojournalist, journalist and author who has covered areas of war for over 45 years. Her work focuses on the human suffering of disasters and human tragedy. Curry reported on conflicts that raged in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Ann Curry, (born November 19th, 1956 in Agana American journalist and television anchor and news reporter who was most well-known for her work as a reporter on the Today show a morning news program that was broadcast by the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry's work was noted because of her coverage of human crisis that occurred in war-torn countries as well as natural disasters. Curry's Japanese-American mother and U.S. navy-marine father both played a prominent role within Curry's personal life. Her mother was stationed with their father during Japan in the aftermath of World War II. Her father was in the military and her family had to move around a lot. Curry completed her high school at Ashland Oregon. Curry graduated in 1978, with an undergraduate degree in journalism at the University of Oregon. Her exposure to different cultures and experiences during her upbringing may have influenced her empathy approach to communicating about issues of international significance. Curry was not able to go to a single school in the cities of San Diego, Alameda Oregon, or Virginia over the course of two years because her family was constantly moving. Ashland, Oregon is the school where Curry earned her diploma. Her first job would lead to a lucrative career as an intern at broadcasting station KTVL Channel 10 Medford. She was the first female news reporter at the station, at age 22. She subsequently moved to the post of anchor and reporter for KGW which was an NBC affiliate in Portland, Oregan. She moved back to Los Angeles four years later as a journalist for KCBS TV. In the course of her work with the channel for a period of 6 years that she was awarded the two Emmy Awards.
